Re: Irish tunes on harmonica, which harp?
It would be very difficult to do it all on one harmonica. You'll need one in G and D for certain, and an A and C are often handy as well. As to the tuning, you can do a lot with a standard harp, but many tunes become much easier with the paddy richter tuning. You can assemble them yourself from Lee ...

Re: Kevin Burke on practice
Fiddlerwill, the video you posted...are you sure you meant to do that? Just askin'. Anyway, what unsubstantiated claims have I made? About poisoning the conversations you participate in? Or your use of sock puppets? These are both verifiable. And you were little_chup. Nobody doubts that for a moment...

Re: Kevin Burke on practice
Yes, I am incredible. Thanks for noticing! :lol: As about me, when I start offering all sorts of musical advice, stating "trad for 70 years, fiddle since 500 bce" I will back my words with playing. As it stands, you'll notice I mostly comment on people's behavior, which I am qualified to d...

Re: Kevin Burke on practice
Jig, tradpiper, little_chup, fiddler will....do you really think people are just picking on you? You poison the conversation as nothing you say can be taken as truth, even when you're telling the truth. It is sad that you find that offensive, as you have nobody but yourself to blame. As to your just...

Re: Kevin Burke on practice
No dishonesty? Little_chup ring a bell? Using sock puppets on a forum is honest?

Re: Kevin Burke on practice
Oh, and Fiddlerwill, if you're not claiming to be an expert, why all the "23" years this and "35 years that?"

Re: Kevin Burke on practice
Steve, I did not mean to offend. But there was a bit derision from the same people on the board whenever certain topics came up. It certainly had the appearance of an old boys network at times. I'm glad to know it was not. As to the metronome issue, I'm of the opinion that different people will have...

Re: Kevin Burke on practice
*Insert heavy sigh* Fiddlerwill, you have a slight point. Not all techniques will work as well for all people. Everybody learns differently, and some people will benefit with using a metronome at first. It is something to get an idea of rhythm and then quickly shelved, However... You are exactly the...

@Ben-
Fiddlerwill's music clips are gone from the web, but I might have saved them somewhere. In the interest of decorum, I will not say why I saved them.....I'll have a look-see when I'm at my main machine, if you're interested.

Re: I fixed a harmonica yesterday
Hans, I love Seydel harps, but I've had three reeds go bad on the 7 hole on the D harp. My G keeps plugging away, but I am reluctantly staying away from Seydel for a bit. I'm not up to retuning a harp (I've done it before, but I am down an arm at present) so I'll probably just get some Lee Oskar mel...
