Re: Onyx low D information
The Onyx low D is by far my favorite of all the low whistles I have tried. The offset holes make it much easier to play for someone with small hands and a short reach like mine :D I never could get used to the piper's grip, but with the Onyx I find it possible to play without piper's grip easily and...

Re: Whistles You Like and Play
I absolutely love the Dixon trad high D for practicing. It's my new favorite. Generation Eb's are nice too
I am quite fond of the cheap-y whistles.

Re: I'm thinking about getting a new whistle -
Feadoggie said it better than I could. Try out the Burke, even though you might end up with both whistles in the future. If you have whistle acquisition disorder, you're a goner. WhOA is me... WhOA is me....

Wierdest place to meet a fellow whistler?
Maybe you'll cross paths with one in an elevator, or maybe your niece's high school graduation. Who knows? You meet whistlers everywhere, but it's the funny occurences that are the most memorable to me. I met my first on a boat. Good stuff. Any other stories to tell?

Re: TIN WHISTLE QUESTION! Help please????
Really, everyone has different opinions about inexpensive whistles. To me, the sound quality and playability on all of them are about the same. If you're only planning on playing a couple of songs just for fun, than get a whistle that LOOKS the best to you, or is the best price. However, I really ho...

Re: Finger vs mouth vibrato
I think I know what you mean by mouth vibrato. I find it easier to use my throat instead of fingers, but that's just me.

Re: Please. Talk me into buying a Burke tin whistle
First of all, thank-you all for your answers! I agree that some people have mixed feelings for Burkes. A few might say that they don't have enough chiffy-ness, but personally I love the sound and think that they're really unique. I've decided to buy one (probably a brass D) but I can't choose betwee...

Please. Talk me into buying a Burke tin whistle
Michael Burke. He makes good whistles, yes? I've been thinking about buying just a brass high D, but I'm not entirely sure. $200 isn't bad, I can afford it. I've been needing a whistle upgrade anyway. Has anyone had experience with these whistles? What is there to know about the company? Tell me the...

Re: low D whistle and small hands?...
aye. I went to a local music shop and tried out a Low D whistle. Susato? I think... Anyway, i tried for about ten minutes or so. Couldn't even get a decent scale down. My hands hurt afterwards, too. Ah well. Thanks for the replies!

low D whistle and small hands?...
Hello. I have been wanting to buy a Dixon low D whistle somewhere online, but I'm too afraid that I won't even be able to reach all of the holes! Are there any small-handed people out there who have had success with playing one of these whistles? Many thanks!
