Re: Review of Guo Tocco Flute
I didn’t want to post this under the “Environmentally Friendly” thread because in this review I won’t be addressing the environmental issue. The Guo Tocco flute is a student level Boehm-style polymer flute from Guo of Taiwan. I have no connection to that company or any dealer. My Reason for Buying ...

Re: whistle with ocarina style fingering?
Interesting! Where to get this sort of "recorder" ocarinas? I'll tell you a secret about photos on the web (ok, it's hardly a secret). Images are many times linked from their original location, which in this case happens to be the website for the maker of those ocarinas. Right click on th...

Re: whistle with ocarina style fingering?
i am wondering about a whistle style instrument (with a fipple). thoughts? I guess after thinking about your question for a while I figured maybe I really do not understand what you are really looking for, especially the fipple bit. And I thought of a few of ocarinas I have seen fashioned in the sa...

Re: "Homemade" Aluminium Irish Flute
Hi Doug
Ok, thanks....everything is much clearer now.
Yes, my flute with the vent holes and being so long over 700mm is really quite heavy.

Re: "Homemade" Aluminium Irish Flute
Hi Doug
Thank you very much for the many pointers you have given me.
Just a question-I am not sure what you mean by the need to undercut the embouchure side of the tone holes to bring the second octave notes up to pitch....what is undercutting?

Re: "Homemade" Aluminium Irish Flute
Hi TinTin
Thanks for your comments...you mean shorten the flute at the first vent hole after R3?
I think I will next try Pete Kosel's Flutomat calculator without the two bottom vent holes....

Re: Can't quite play D, F and E
Hi Folks
Thanks for all the advice given. Yes I don't think its any problem with the whistle, its just me...definitely I will try out the exercises suggested...hopefully there will be some improvement...but for starters. back to G, A and B first!
