Not a flame, really, just a question: How is someone who is new to this game supposed to know these things without asking? How are they to know in advance that they shouldn't ask here?

It's not a rhetorical question. I'd like someone to explain it to me.

A "D" and a "B" will do the same, generally. Some notes may have to be tweaked to sound good if the "third" interval between the whistles isn't right for the music.

One of the things I've always liked most about my Goldie-Overton high D is that it is so fast. That, with its low breath volume requirement, is a real plus playing jigs and reels. You can make it through some of the long passages without having to break them up.

Greg makes some excellent points. I would only add that communities on-line exist without the benefit of face-to-face contact, so the visual dimension of the conversation is lacking. The potential for misunderstanding is therefore larger and should be taken into account when posting. That said, I no...

Good! I'm glad to hear it. Is your home near the fire? The news reports said it was about 180 acres in size, but that could change quickly. I'm not very familiar with the Lead side of Deadwood. I used to teach at our geological field camp, which had, or has, a project on Whitewood Peak. I hope they ...
