Redwing and Soldier's Joy ... great old time fiddle tunes.
My son has been playing fiddle for a year now, these are 2 standards most fiddle players in North America learn that cross over well on whistle.

Re: Complete noob with a noob question
The Feadog does have a weak-ish low end - if you want to move up relatively cheaply, I'd strongly suggest a tweaked Generation from Jerry Freeman. If you want to spend more, well, check the classified section here. You can spend almost as much as you want to! To be perfectly honest, there are a lot...

The whistle calculators say ... No .... but them I'm just plugging in numbers. Someone really understanding the mathematics of sound could give you an answer.

Re: I must learn Uilleann Pipes for Celtic based metal band
I don't play pipes .. I play whistle and flute, but I read a lot of the piping postings as I would love to be able to afford a set and learn someday. Which begs the question ... where did you get a set and how much?? They are expensive so saying you can't afford lessons but have pipes raises the que...

Re: New Member, New Whistler, Attempting to Tweak
Tough crowd... What I was trying to say is that I don't think I fully understand some of the suggestions, being a novice. I was not trying to say that I simply ingnore them. I probably just communicated it poorly. Really ... they are not a tough crowd. It's just that 99% of every new player that fi...

Re: Any young people here who haven't learned cursive?
Yes they can read it. I have 3 boys ... 15, 12 and 10. They learned a form of printing that is basically dis-joined cursive .... I do not remember the font name. (Ont. Canada) Keyboarding skills are in the for-front, but funny enough not taught in school. When I was in High school you could take a t...

Re: Survey: Watches
Analog for me ... but it is very sentimental as well. My Grandfather's wrist watch he got when he retired in 1972, an Omega Automatic Grand Sport Geneve. No batteries, Self winding ... very simple yet smart looking watch that puts a smile on my face when I look at it and I think of him. Past away 2 ...
