Re: Antique Clark (no E?) - Any guesses on age?

I have a very old Clarke whistle with W Clarke on it. When I contacted Norman Dannatt and forwarded photos to him, he replied that it was definitely one of their own but was unable to work out who the W was. He did say that a branch of the family opened a factory in Hackney so, it was possible, that...

Re: MK low D question

I wouldn't say the edges of the tone holes on mine are rough but they do tend to be quite clean cut, perhaps giving the impression of roughness as your fingers settle into the holes or move over them. They really don't feel any different from the edges on a few of my other whiles I checked them agai...

Re: FS: MK Pro low A

Brilliant whistle. I ordered one as an afterthought when purchasing an MK Pro Low D. So glad I did. Personally, I find it much more friendly and stable, particularly in the upper register, than my Alba A. The Alba is a beautiful looking whistle but I've never been truly comfortable or confident play...

Re: Playing whistle in Australian humidity

I was playing at a gig last night in Central Victoria. I was using 5 different whistles, 3 high Ds, an A and a Low D, each with a smalll degree of clogging while warming into the tunes. I reached for the Sindt D and gave it a once through before miking it up. It wasn't happy! The C nat was totally f...

Definitely up there with the best. I have 4 of John's whistles and they are all superb. And a lovely person to deal with too!

Re: Can anyone identify this whistle?

I have an almost identical looking whistle. It is in C. Above the holes it has the brand "Asarkar" but beneath that is a soldered on thin metal band, obviously a label of some kind. I can't quite make out the full lettering but it looks like "Madhu Bansi". Some of the letters are...
