I bought a Low F Aluminum Pro from Mr. Burke back in 2003, and it's definitely my pride and joy. This might not totally fit in with the thread, but does anyone know of a whistle similar to the Burke low whistle line that offers more back pressure, maybe with a chiffier and slightly airy sound to it?...

Argh, help with a name...
Hi, all -- here's the deal. I was browsing around Phil Hardy's whistle site (www.kerrywhistles.com), and found the video/downloads section. I came across a particular video of Mike McGoldrick, and the set that he plays on it just struck me as a great set of tunes. The video i'm referring to is (down...

Water weasel low F -- thoughts?
I've been looking around for a mid-range whistle lately (I think i've decided on a low F), and I checked to see exactly what keys Mr. Schultz makes his water weasels in. Lo and behold, a low F. I've heard rave reviews from many people about the higher keys-- has anyone played any of the lower water ...

Nope, no drill press... unfortunately, all I have at my command is an assortment of hand/power tools...which usually do the job nicely with some elbow grease and a little patience. In the end, I'm sure I'll have a Rube Goldberg machine for spinning Delrin taking up the majority of my workspace. Nece...

I've owned a Howard low D for about 9 months now, and I've been fairly pleased with it-- really nice tone, and not incredibly expensive. The holes may be a little larger than average, but with a little practice, I think anyone can manage. You really have to put a lot of air though to stay stable in ...

Being both a whistler and clarinetist myself, I can confidently say that the average person would have a much easier time picking up a whistle and learning to play than trying to do the same with a clarinet. As brewerpaul mentioned earlier, the whistle is great for traditional music, and the recorde...

Hmmm... looking around, I don't see any acetal rods for sale with a diameter that would be of any real use to me without working on it with a lathe (which I don't have access to at the moment). I'll probably look into that cedar heartwood. I've not gotten ahold of any photos of your copper whistles,...

Delrin fipple plug?
Hi, all. I've been making copper whistles for a little while now, and I'm ready to start experimenting. I've been using plain, unsealed oak for the fipple plugs (didn't bother putting a laquer or anything on them, since I was just trying to get a feel for how to get a good tone out of the mouthpiece...

Ridseard, I live in Botetourt Co, Va-- just outside Roanoke. Not exactly a location packed to the brim with whistlers, but we hold our own. :D I've never had a chance to do any geocaching, although I've seen it done and it looks pretty interesting(I'm sure crashing through the woods or whatnot with ...
