Bill Haneman Uilleann Pipe Maker

Oh, brilliant, I am so happy. I was actually scared that something might have happened to you not beeing so active on the forum for a while. Now I am relieved, and in the meantime I've learned that you are terribly busy with the chores of Pipe Craft school. What an amazing possibility. Congratulatio...

Contacting Bill Haneman

Hello fellow pipers. I haven't visited the forum for a long time. Bill Haneman used to be a very active member here. I tried to contact him via his email address. We used to exchange emails a lot for years. Do you have any information, if he is still in the pipe-making business? I'd appreciate your ...

Re: D chanter: Ray SLOAN / Martin Preshaw

Iv'e only been player the pipes now for over a year and a half. ... I made the reed myself.....but added, that Martin Preshaw taught me how to make reeds. Mairtin, You must be a good guy; after 1.5 years you have learned how to make your own reeds for your own chanter. Your opinion counts for two o...

Usually this forum is terribly boring, everybody is very polite, and that is OK.
Your was an honest opinion.

Re: C sharp

I'm struggling to get a decent C sharp on my chanter etc but still the note sounds flat You are not alone! I used to have a chanter from a reputable maker, I even sent the chanter back to the maker to fix the flat C#. And I got the back the chanter and reeds untuched with a comment that it is perfe...

Re: Free album download from Lagrange/Rutkowski duet

Yes this tune set is played on my G French bagpipes, the sound is a bit different than the other sets of the cd because I used an other reed for the recording. It may sound like Cape Breton, perhaps because it's Scottish music with a bit of French touch... Do you make your own reeds for your Blanc c...

Re: Free album download from Lagrange/Rutkowski duet

Excellent music. I love both pipes and the chromatic button accordion; I love both French and Irish music either. I've just uploaded your tunes on my mobile phone. Both of you are virtuoso musicians, and I have been watching your youtube videos for a long time.
Thank You! Miklos

Re: FS: uilleann chanters

I had the chance to play these very chanters of Richard during a session a couple of weeks ago. The craftmanship of these chanters is perfect, just like Rogge's. Both were very easy to play, perfectly in tune and the back D was powerful enough. Richard prefers to make soft/sweet sounding reeds. I te...

Jim Wenham D chanter ... for (EURO) 650 plus shipping. I have Wenham chanter for years, and it's excellent and unbelievably reliable even in winter (central heated very dry rooms in the house). Jim, "good man", is one of the reed making instructors in Miltown Malbay and his chanters are v...

If your success rate is 1 very good reed out of 10 attempts, no need for science, guessing is perfect, IMHO.
Unless you are a pipe or reed maker and you do it for living.
