I own R&C #7007 ( a concial bore 8 key), made by Henry Wylde for the firm in 1888. It has a tuning slide.

I too would be amazed if a seller would think any potential buyer naive enough to believe a cock and bull story of not noticing a crack, repaired or otherwise, running the length of the head through the embouchure! This one is easy enough to spot even from the photos shown on eBay! Scurrilous indeed...

My flute arrived yesterday! I am amazed. It is spectacular. Boxwood 8-key plus a Bb touch for the right hand, imitation ivory rings, silver slide, amber blowing edge and endcap with a big amber cabachon. it is the prettiest flute I have ever seen and I have not played a better one. I am in love, an...

Re: Craze?

Judging by the number of accomplished young players in Ireland the "craze" is far from over. The fact that more young people than ever are playing traditional music on fiddle, flute, whistle, pipes and concertina argues for a solid basis for the continuity of the tradition. .... Agreed. I...

Thanks, lads. I just put an order in for each of the aforementioned recommendations via the Boxwood Music web site. I didn't realize until perusing the catalogue just now the extensiveness of his work. I'm looking forward to hearing them.

Cheers,

McCullagh, read backwards 3 posts :) Oh man, I am trying to get off to a good start here and blew it. I just read the first few posts and dove right in with my 2 cents! Sorry for the breach of etiquette. :) Great news on your purchase. The fact that's she's pumped up is wonderful. Several times a w...

Lads, a pint and handshake required of each of you. A nice tune to get the feet a tapping. We're musicians, or part time music hobbyists, makers of art, patrons of culture, advocates of thoughtfulness and peace, right? What do any of us really know? We love our friends and family. We help others whe...

NerdWhistler I have a 10 year old daughter who is well ahead of the pack and unbelievably versatile for her age on both flute and whistle. Here's the chronology of events that have her playing full size Bohem and simple system flutes and a low F Overton whistle proficiently with small girl size hand...

Thanks...good tips. I just spent the last two hours learning a new Jig (to me) The Drunken Gauger . I was able to work in the c-nat key nicely going GAB CBA.... The breakthrough. as Eilam suggested, was trying a new tune for which I had no tactile memory. Back to more practice. The wife and kids are...

Flute Post - C-nat key

I hope I am in the right forum. General question for all of you keyed fluters out there. I 've recently switched to a keyed flute after several years of keyless and I am having difficulty with making efficient use of the c-nat key. Muscle memory seems to always bring me back to cross fingering at fa...

WFO 2 & Chris Norman

I recently received a copy of WFO2. What great stuff. I think I like it even better that the first. Perhaps there are more standalone flute tracks, and rawer material that is so appealing. Not sure. The Chris Norman track is fantastic, and even drew a favorable comment from my wife who has promised ...

Mr Wilkes tells me he has never come across a Prowse which works well without substantial modification ,but David will disagree , no doubt . Indeed he is just finishing his Prowse Jnr and mine which now work very well after a massive effort on his part . From a player rather than collectors standpo...
