Who's makin' the cheapest low whistles these days?
Back when I was posting here more regularly, Susatos were probably the cheapest thing on then market, but it looks like they are considerably more expensive these days. Anyway, I was playing low D for a thing, and some lady asked me about where to get one for here niece for Christmas (apparently she...

Where do I stick the mic?
Sometimes I play whistle or flute at church. Sometimes people even like it. However, don't really know where to place the mic. I tried to put it at the bottom (can I call it the bell?). That didn't work so well, so I tried to move around, so the highest open hole would be nearest to the mick, but th...

I write music because I have ideas. It would be a waste not to play them. I would like to be remebered for them, but most people never here them, so I doubt it's very likely. Most of them are just fragments without structure. I have more ideas than I have time to arrange them properly. This is lame,...

Seriously, though ... I'm really glad you posted this. I worry about my hearing. Especially when I test Shaws during the tweaking process, I have to spend a lot of time with the highest notes. Before I start another batch of tweaked Shaws, I'll have a set of these plugs. Thanks ever so much. Best w...

Mellow Dog: So good I'm going DEAF!
Well. I got the Mellow Dog, as I reported earlier, and It's rocking the junk out of all my other whistles (all cheap, but with some rather successful tweaks on a couple). Very pure without much chiff. Good balance in volume on the upper octave, not too shrill sounding. It's got a "thicker"...
