This may be a crazy idea, but you might try the adhesive corn pads with the hole in the middle of the pad, found at local drug/grocery stores... Around the tone holes, I mean...

I realize this is probably heresy, but a slidewhistle can be lots of fun for a kid, teach a lot about music, tunes, tuning, & breath control, and only requires one finger! The Whistleshop sells them: http://www.thewhistleshop.com/catalog/w ... erican.htm

Take Heart! 10,000 years from now an archeologist will discover the whistle right next to the bones of an alligator (dead from brain worms), conclusively proving that those extinct reptiles played musical instruments. Later, a PhD dissertation will assert that the alligators green color is a direct ...

If you read carefully, Slowdowner says "-50%" to 400% slower. That is a backwards way of saying it can SPEED UP tunes by 50% (!!!) as well as slow them down. My wife had a realllllly sloooow version of "Climb Every Mountain" and we used Slowdowner to increase the tempo 20%. Nice ...

For crying out loud, can we all please get off Phil's back? Now we're raggin' him for lauding a player & a whistle he doesn't even sell? And where else but HIS WEBSITE can he conveniently post & share music? I know Phil's no saint, but I haven't seen too many of those posting on this board, ...

Silicone grease can also be found in tubes at swimming pool supply stores, where it lubes vacuum system o-rings & other parts. keep some paper towels handy though... it wipes off easily, but washing it off your hands doesn't work (it's waterproof), and it feels icky!

Hey Stacey, I don't have an Alba or that, er, other Alba, but I think I see the problem. You have a mutant sense of humor :o which requires a mutant cerebellum to perceive properly. I found your post extremely funny (I usually do!), :D but I fear others may misinterpret & see your wit & sarc...

Boehm Band Beginner Bargains?

My 11 year old son (who has shown no interest in whistles, alas!) wants to try his hand at flute in band next fall. He likes the sound. I have no expertise or knowledge of flutes, but I suspect the local music stores are overpriced with mediocre quality instruments, and I don't want to spend a lot f...

I am a Texan. I am also a white conservative...and a (sigh) mediocre whistle player. Reading the comments so far, I guess that makes me blood-thirsty, red-necked, bigoted, ignorant, fanatically religious, or fill in the blank with your favorite "Texan" sterotype... Rather than address all ...
