Re: Low D for small hands?

I love the Onyx! I have small hands, but my real issue was very skinny fingers. I play mine all the time. It's nice to spend more time making music and less time fighting the instrument. Deb Edited to add that since it is a 3-part whistle, I can also rotate the holes a little to better facilitate re...

Re: Buying a High End Whistle recommendation request

I also have his low D. The main consideration there is comfort and the ability to cover the holes with my skinny fingers. I had a Reyburn, but I couldn't get the holes covered, even with piper's grip. It aggravated my arthritis and was generally not fun for me to play. The more I get to know the Ony...

Re: Buying a High End Whistle recommendation request

I haven't checked in here lately, but I have a WD Sweet high D. I love it. I play in church and it is in tune with itself and the other instruments, loud enough to carry well, and sweeter sounding (to my ear) than any of the other whistles I have played. I had a Burke for awhile, but it just didn't ...

FS: Rehoming inexpensive whistles

I have a Dixon Trad D in nickel that plays very well. Excellent condition. $20 + postage. A Shaw in D, also excellent condition (needless to say, it takes more air than the Dixon), $20 + postage. Walton and Feadog D, $12 + postage for the pair.

Re: Tommy Dion Bb tweaked generation

I have a cpvc whistle from Tommy and I'm trying to decide between one of his tweaked Bb whistles and one of his handmade pvc ones. He does good work!

Tommy Dion C cpvc whistle

It has been in my home for a week now and I must say that once I have gotten to know it, I really love this whistle. I needed a C whistle for our worship team, and it needed to be tunable, and well in tune with itself. I also wanted a bit of chiff. This whistle fits the bill nicely. I'm hoping to ge...

Re: Low D Narrow Bore recommendations

I have skinny fingers and smaller hands. The ONYX is comfortable for me to play. Sometimes I do rotate the bottom section a little bit to the right to make it easier. I'm not sure you'll find anything with a smaller reach.

Re: FS: 2 Chieftains

It might be safer to wait until you arrive at your destination. I do see a guy here who rides no-handed all over town. And there was the guy who was smoking and using his cellphone while he was riding. I wondered what would happen if he forgot which hand was which. :)

WTT: Dixon Trad for Shaw (anything but D)

Gently used Dixon Trad high D in nickel. This is a great beginner's whistle. It blows easily up into the third octave. I like the Clarke and Shaw whistles, so I tend to overblow this one.

So happy the whistles are staying where they belong, and that you will have transportation again.

Because I play with a worship team, I need them to be tunable, since the guitars and piano won't be tuning to me. :)

Re: Conical Bores

Not to interrupt the fun, but does anyone have suggestions for tunable conical-bore whistles in keys besides D — besides the mythical, unobtainable Copelands.

Thanks!
