Re: What is this flute?

Definitely just a simple piccolo oboe/musette (not to be confused with the musette du cour which is of course the seventeenth and eighteenth century French bagpipe.). Wikipedia knows all http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oboe_musette

FS: 2 Burns flutes, Fischer six keyed flute

I love the Irish flute dearly - so much so that I have accumulated a few too many! Every time I have gotten a new one I have told myself I would sell an old one and it just hasn't happened. All of these flutes are in proper playing condition with no cracks or issues: ready to go! Paypal is great, an...

Check out my new flute from Dave Copley

Fully lined headjoint and Oiling Question

Cheers everyone! I recently took possession of a flute with a full headjoint liner. I have had many flutes but never one like this before. Can anyone give me any ideas on how to minimize the risk? Also, when oiling an instrument with a full headjoint liner - how do you oil the head? Thanks for your ...

Re: Musette de Cour, crossing borders?

I don't know about the travels of the musette but the port de voix is another matter - It was the principal French baroque ornament and is an appogiatura from below. It is the stressed note and the note it resolves to is unstressed. It is discussed at length in Quantz and Hotteterre does give a nota...
