Will you say what the outpatient treatment is for ganglion cysts of the hand/wrist? Hi Jim. I had a fairly large ganglion cyst on my right wrist which I probably got from a climbing or weight training related injury. I eventually had it surgically removed because it would hurt whenever I bumped it,...

Sorry to hear about your tendonitis, Jason. A lot of good advice has been posted here, but the most important advice is to stop playing completely until you are pretty much pain free. I've had a couple of serious bouts with elbow tendonitis as a result of my other passion, rockclimbing, which nearly...

Re: Reflecting on Jim Stone, flutes and St. Louis...

I had my bachelor's party at McGurk's. I imagine it's about a perfect place for a session, especially with Kevin and John Skelton. It's hard to imagine that it could get much better. It was everything I had imagined: a 100 year old, brick building, with small, dim rooms, with lots of nicely...

You had wonderful flutes to try all in the same place :o That's fantastic. It was a real treat, Sean, and Jim is so personable and welcoming. I've read about so many of these wonderful flutes, and heard folks sing their praises about their personal favorites, so it was wonderful to get a chance to ...

Yes, next year, heaven willing! Amen, Jim! At my age now, each morning when I wake up, I'm grateful for all the possibilities the day may hold. Experiences like the St. Louis trip remind me of how wonderful experiences can unexpectedly unfold even in the midst of a disappointing situation. BTW, aft...

Reflecting on Jim Stone, flutes and St. Louis...

I got started on my Irish flute adventure in January when I purchased a blackwood, slideless Copley & Boegli from Doc. My experience with the Boehm silver flute eased the transition, and I quickly grew to love playing my simple, wooden flute. My silver Muramatsu has been gathering dust ever sinc...

Oh, that's awful! :-( Bob, I'm so sorry. I've been hearing horror stories about the airlines lately, but that's ... well, that's nuts. Did the ATA shutdown come into play? Thanks everyone for your kind sentiments regarding my travel nightmare. I tried my best to make it to St. Louis in time for Kev...

Just remember to record everything (or become a very good friend of someone else who's recording everything) because that's what'll keep you warm through the long, cold post-Tionol nights with only the ABC's to wrap around yourself .... :-D Looking forward to meeting you, and safe travels! I've got...

The main thing I’d suggest to you is to set aside the dots for a while and Play along with a tune over and over until you pick it up. (My wife made use headphones) Over time it does get easier. Have fun in St Louie!! Tom Thanks, Tom, for your informative post. I've had the intention to close the tu...

I leave at midday tomorrow for the St. Louis Tionol. I hope I will somehow recognize a few of you folks and get a chance to meet a few of you there. I understand that Kevin has taught his most recent classes entirely by ear. If that's the case, I will probably be woefully lost since I'm addicted to ...
