The concert and whole weekend was WONDERFUL. And I had a blast at McGurks on Sunday. I actually overheard a very INTERESTING converstation between a very well known whistle maker and Ms Bergin regarding choice of instruments. All in all it was a fabulous weekend. As there were available Burkes and C...

The Harper has a very disticintive sounds.......and is quite beautiful. Many dont like the thick blade but I find it very comfortable and like a substancial whis...

The thing is that the OT converstation are generally ALWAYS marked as such, and the topic is clear. We can ALL exercise our choice. If we dont wish to read OT subjects, OR certain subjects......we don't have to open them. Ultimatly we can always just NOT read them if we dont like them, just as we ca...

Just wanted to thank those who mentioned Delores Keane, with the description of her contralto voice. I was not familiar with her (being new to traditional music). With so many recommendations I splurged on a few CD's I encountered. LOVELY. There are not very many contralto singers who become popular...

Just began the harp around Christmas. O'Carolan recommendation is seconded. Plaxty Irwin is good with harp and whistle as are many of the others. Many of the airs work great too, the air version of the star of the county down sounds GREAT with whistle and harp. HAVE FUN

I will be there. I took the workshop last year with Grey Larson. Great teacher. The only problem is there is a REALLY big jump between the beginner and the intermediate class. But everyone was very nice and relaxed. Hope to see some C&F's there.

guess its a bad case of M.I.O.A. here. Multiple musical instrument obsessive acquistion disorder. I seem to keep aquiring guitars, whistles, and banjos. And NO, I dont resist the guitars any better than the whistles.

Yes, I too have had the horrible whistle clog problem. Unfortunatly, my FAVORITE whistle (burke WBB brass) clogs VERY easily, to the point of sometimes being impossible to get through a tune. The periodically sucking suggestion is not sufficient as ......well I would miss an awful lot of the tune. I...
