Congrats Jason; I too have a nickle Copeland soprano D, and it is one of my 3 favorite whistles. I have always used steel wool on all my metal whistles and people faint away at the thought of it. Just remember to use ultra fine, that is 0000, steel wool, and you can rub it down as you please ( I us...

That's sweet. And I have the exact same whistle as you. :) :) So we're whistle buddies. Cara Hey Cara, How do you clean and polish yours? Copeland's website says to use fine steel wool (?!?!?) if you want a polished satin look, which sounds great to me, but it seems like something that could go wro...

I found my soulmate!
Greetings All, Well, I found my soulmate, and she's a whistle! Over the weekend, at the St. Louis Tionol, I had the pleasure of meetings Lauri Buchna from the Whistle Shop. We were talking about whistles and the Whistle Shop when I mention that I'm starting to prefer the sound of nickle whistles ove...

I'll be there. Last year I took the intermediate class with Grey, and I gained a number of really good insights and techniques from him. Although, he did recommend a way to hold the whistle that was (and still is) really difficult for me (due the the extrodinary length of my middle finger, and the f...

Whistle studies - The next step.
Greetings All, It's been some time since I posted here, and the reason for that is due to the fact that I've hit a wall on my whistle playing progress. It's been a very frustrating past 6 months, and I'm tired of being frustrated. So, my question to everyone here is: Does anyone know of a good irish...

I have watched the movie so many times, I hear the dialog each time I listen to the CD! I'll be sure to pick it up, but my ear for picking up tunes still isn't that great. I'm wo...

Wow! Thanks all for the great replies! Sadly, I tried to visit the Whistle Shop on Friday, but I arrived just a bit late and they were closed (their store hours are 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, and I go there at 3:30 pm). However, now I'm obsessed with seeing the shop, and I'll probably just make a special ...

Greetings All, I'm out traveling for work, and it seems that my return travel will put me pretty close to the Whistle Shop. I thought I would stop by and possibly pick up a new whistle, but I don't want to spend much over $50.00. I've been playing a clark original (and I really like it), and I wante...

Okay, I think I need therapy now. Last night I had this dream that I couldn't play a whistle for the life of me. I kept trying to interlock my fingers over the holes, or trying to play whistle like instruments, but anyone that heard me would make rude comments or nasty faces. Today, I don't even wan...
