Re: Pocketable Whistle Suggestions?

... mould. I played it just now and it's not all that bad. (Judging by the teeth-marks I must have played it some back in the 80s.) My Freeman Tweaked Generation D top and Killarney D to both fit on the body and turn it into a decent whistle. I think I'll actually leave the Gen head on it so I'll have ...

Thanks for all the replies!

I sent David O'Brien an email and may order a Generation F to try.

Re: Pocketable Whistle Suggestions?

Further thought: if you have easy access to a source of Generation whistles, it might be worth trying their high F for the sake of the price of a coffee? I have high ...

Re: Next progression from a Clark advice please

Part of learning the whistle is learning to reinstall in the high notes and ... achieve there. I would suggest not to fuss over your next whistle too much, get yourself a half decent Generation and work at it. The Internet will tell you all sort ...

Re: Generation B natural?

FWiW, another thread linked to Mac Nic whistles . They do a B (although named 'H' in the German fashion). I am almost sure these are equipped with Sweetone mouthpieces, paired with a thicker-walled tube. I remember trying a D or C MacNic many years ago. It was okay, maybe even for the price. Can't ...

FWiW, another thread linked to Mac Nic whistles . They do a B (although named 'H' in the German fashion). At 60 euro perhaps a relatively "budget' option. Not a recommendation (I have not come across these 'in the flesh' or heard them played, so there's a caveat), but at least worth knowing abo...

Re: Generation B natural?

Here's an earlier thread where I explain my method. I've made great-playing in-tune whistles in C# and B natural this way. https://forums.chiffandfipple.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=113898 Cutting both ends only and you end up with the notes emitting from Hole 5 and Hole 6 being too flat, so these ha...

Re: Generation B natural?

Top tip ... go down to your local DIY/Hardware store and buy a pipe-cutter. Don't try to cut the pipe with a hacksaw.
