- Tell us something.: You just slip out the back, Jack
Make a new plan, Stan
You don't need to be coy, Roy
Just get yourself free
Hop on the bus, Gus
You don't need to discuss much
Just drop off the key, Lee
And get yourself free - Location: Loren has left the building.
Dale,
Perhaps there should be seperate top10 ten lists for high and low whistles? Seems to me most folks here (C&F) have a definite preference for one or the other and it's really starting to show in this thread. I'm thinking seperate high and low lists would help steer those thinking of making purchases to what they are looking for.
Anyway, here are some of my top 10 (and no, I'm not copying Brigitte's list!):
Flook - Flatfish
Lunasa - Otherworld + Merry Sisters of Fate
Solas - all of 'em!
Seamus Egan - When Juniper sleeps
Eamonn Dillon - Storm The Kettle
Cormac Breatnach - Musical Journey
Afro Celt Soundsystem - Vols. 2 & 3
James McNally - Everybreath
Eoin Duignan - Ancient Rite + Coumineol
Hevia - Tierra De Nadie
Brian Finnegan - When the party's over
Laurence Nugent - Two for two + Windy gap, but mostly for the flute on those CD's
There's more of course, but those are some of my faves. I
Loren

I have not yet accumulated a large amount of whistlework in my CD collection, but I just picked up the latest CD by a group I caught live at the Queen Mary Celtic Fest, Gaelic Storm. The CD is called Tree. They have a new fiddle, Kathleen Keane, who also plays whistle and low whistle. She is (how do I put this) ... pretty agile on the whistle. One track is a reel featuring her whistle at a take-no-prisoners tempo, which I also saw her do live, so it wasn't a fluke, honest!
I'm sure this shouldn't be considered a top-ten whistle album, but it's worth a listen. Plus the band as a whole is one hell of a lot of fun.
