Congratulations, Doc! I think you were shipping my two "backroom" Sweethearts as your grandchild was being delivered--thanks!
I've recently (sort of) become a grandpa too. My daughter suggested my grandson might enjoy a flute for his first birthday (yeah, I know, ridiculously inappropriate). But I got him a litttle plastic yamaha soprano recorder, nonetheless, and apparently even at this young age, he loves it--knows which end to blow on to make sounds, which of course is where we all begin (or most of us anyway). I bring a whistle (usually a plastic one, like a Susato) to pretty much every gathering, and all I know is that he gets a great big smile on his face when he hears some music coming out of that thing. I personally attribute having fallen in love with guitar to my grandpa's having one/ He could play one song on it (that I know of). So, point is...lucky grandkids to have such a grandpa--they'll never forget the music you give them.
