It's not always nasty, many arbuscular-mycorrhizal fungi have obligately intracellular bacteria, both seem to be quite happy with the arrangement, not to mention the way they both get along with most of the world's plants. Of course I belong to a multicultural family, now that can get ugly.

And by the way, the probably obvious just occurred to me: as talasiga will affirm, the words "thread" and "sutra" are essentially the same; thus I conclude that "sutra" and "suture" must be IndoEuropeaniacally linked. How's that for a Beer University grad?
