Last sunday at my daughter's 21st birthday party one of her friends (24yo) looked me up and down and said, "Damn dad, you have some hot legs."

The bike riding has PAID OFF!!!!!!

I actually do have hot legs too. When I walk you can see the muscles. Not bad for a 47 year old guy who, just five months ago was a loser fat slug.

Ah, life is grand.

Oh, she didn't comment on the belly. Sigh.....

I had to stop riding my bike over ten years ago because of arthritis. Until then I thought nothing of covering five or six thousand miles a year, cycling to work and back every weekday (22 miles return, 1400 feet of climbing!). I thought I had legs to die for. I can still go for quite long walks (I walked six miles on the sea-cliffs and beach today) and I reckon my legs don't look too bad for a 55-year-old. The trouble is, only women over 75 seem to notice. I think all the others don't notice anything below my waist, and all my weak points are above the waist. Yes, girls, all of them.

Mine... well... they have some sort of illness in them that I have to take medications for... they used to be hot before I went to the doctor, and got treatments. Now they are no more feverish than the rest of me.

Yeah, as a mountain biker, I got great athletic legs. I just need a big black bar to blot out the rest o' me...

Hmm...seems to be a common thread for us "older" roadies as well. I remember when some young junior, Lemond, by name beat the pants off the seniors at a NorCal championship back in 77 or was it 78......

I'm glad to know I'm not the only middle-ager with great legs and a beer gut, although I did get carded on my 41st birthday.

I'm entered in a half-marathon (first race over ten miles; first over 10k in 20 years) in a few weeks. Did my first training run last weekend, probably between 10 and 11 miles, twice as far as I normally run, no problem. Heck, if I don't destroy my knees I might do a marathon next year.

Well, congratulations Flyingcursor! I'm sure many of us really admire someone who can stick with it and get in shape. I think a picture of those legs should go on the Cutie-Pie thread  !

Are you sure these should be on that thread?

ROFLMFAO
I'm at the point (or should I say, just got to the point this last year) where I can't ride my bike anymore... a little earlyer than most blokes, tho...the arthritis in my knee (from a motorcycle accident back in 2000) prevents me from riding for very long anymore...I used to like to ride to work, because I only live one city over from work (it's about a 20 min ride is all, and about evenly spaced between uphill and down...great bloody workout).

In any given group of guys, evey guy is entitled to have at least one buddy who will help him justify doing something completely stupid but nonetheless very enticing, so it is with that in mind that I say -- Go for it, dude. She wants you. You know she does. You know it in your heart she does (or thereabouts, anyway). And the Universal Guy Law against hitting on any of your daughter's friends expires when said daughter turns 21.
