What exactly is bubble-gum flavor?

Post by Flyingcursor »

I'm talking about the traditional Double Bubble/Bazooka flavor harking back to yesteryear. What the heck is it? It isn't any natural flavor that I know of.

From Wikipedia:
Bubblegum is a type of chewing gum that is especially designed for blowing bubbles. It is available in many different colors and flavors. The most common flavor is the distinctive one also known as "bubblegum", which is a combination of wintergreen, peppermint, and cianin, a type of cinnamon.

The 17 year old sitting here said, upon my reading this:
"Bubblegum's not mint! It's, like, fruity!"

Well, Dubble Bubble and Bazooka do have that mixed sort of flavor, as described. Always reminded me of root beer. Super Bubble, which I preferred, was more a fruity flavor, akin to Big Red cream soda (which has a mixture of lemon oil, orange oil, and vanilla).

Big Red!

Mmmm.

Best when made with pure cane sugar.

I have some in my fridge and think I'll go grab one now. Thanks!

I especially like the comment from Cecil, "It's a naive domestic chew, but I think you'll be amused by its presumption."

Tell us something.: I used to be a regular then I took up the bassoon. Bassoons don't have a lot of chiff. Not really, I have always been a drummer, and my C&F years were when I was a little tired of the drums. Now I'm back playing drums. I mist the C&F years, though.
