I'm not sure that Johnny McCarthy is as well known as he deserves to be, so here's a clip of him playing an air, "The Soaring Kestrel". He made a CD with keyboards player Pat Crowley, which was all original compositions, and was released in 1999. I've just found out that you can download it through "iTunes" for £4.99, which is a good deal for a fine collection of tunes, played with great style on flute and fiddle.

Coincidentally, I just came across this :
https://youtu.be/gbHpkTH1lsc
John Creedon makes a fair attempt at learning the flute from scratch in 6 months, and I'd say does pretty well.
He plays "The Soaring Kestrel" from about 35 mins in.
