I have an earache.

2000 B.C. - Here, eat this root.

1000 A.D. - That root is heathen, say this prayer.

1850 A.D. - That prayer is superstition, drink this potion.

1940 A.D. - That potion is snake oil, swallow this pill.

1985 A.D. - That pill is ineffective, take this antibiotic.

2000 A.D. - That antibiotic is artificial. Here, eat this root.

Thank you all. Lesley has been chuckling quietly at all the jokes and is still finding her missing arm funny. She is weird.
She remains incredibly weak and frail and has a long way to go, but she is on the right road. There will be no more surgery. She is too fragile. At least her pain has been relieved and she is happy. She is so pleased that she will be able to whistle again. Losing her last bit of music had broken her heart, although she would not have said so.
She is one tough lady and I love her.

All the rude comments are just a way of showing how Lesley has become family to us. She should just be happy we are not within reach of head nuggies.

Happy Easter. I hope the hospital has good food today. I am up at 7:25am trying to get myself ready for 11am Mass. Our folk group plays for the Saturday evening Mass. We only ever play Christmas and Easter morning. I am pumping myself full of coffee, sweets, and a chill pill, so that I can actually play musical instruments in positive spirits today. Psalm 118 will be for Lesley. Sing of the Lord's Goodness, a song in 5/4, will be for Ro. The Alleluia will be for all of us.

I'm reading into this situation, but, I'd guess that the doctors suspected that they had better make the most of their efforts, on this occasion, and, I'd bet they did.

Fortunately, this apparently has to do with a temporary pain blocker, post surgery.

Let's otherwise hope for that shoulder to knit tight and mend well.

She'll need it to play music, once again.

Greetings from the one-armed bandit! Ro went home to sleep last night, after so many sleepless nights, and he left me the laptop! I have bribed the nurses to let me get at it!
Thank you all so much. You are amazing friends and we can neither of us thank you enough. I have loved the jokes and comments and look forward to retaliating when my brain wakes up!
It is weird without my arm! They will let the block wear off now, so I will soon know I have two arms, and probably wish I didn't, for a while! But then - whistles, here I come!
Must stop as people want to do things to me! Cruelty!

I'll be passing by on Thursday morning on my way to father-in-law in East Budleigh again. If you suddenly get powerful feelings of irritation at about 10.30 on Thursday morning - it's me within a couple of miles!
