I think you missed the part that said that she's 14 years old there Jon

Patrick.
Right you are, Pat. If there's any comment to be made on this video, its how wonderful it is to see a 14 year old with the skill and obvious dedication that many of us would aspire to have at 2,3, or 4 (5...6... should I keep going? :) ) times her age. The tuning of her regs doesn't really merit comment. (Not to mention that in a live performance situation those regs could very well have been in tune right before she stepped on to the stage!)

I have followed Grace since she 1st started and have been very impressed with her developing music over the years. All this talk about her regs being oot is pure pish .She has not been playing the regs for that long and is way better on them ( in or oot of tune ) than some pipers I know who have won Comhaltas Competitions.(Mind ye thats another story altogether) Her set is a Galloway.Good luck Grace, if ye are reading this, for Sunday and let the armchair critics get on wi it ,they know nothing.

I'm fully aware of how old Grace is and she IS a fine player.

But surely part of the skill to piping is knowing ( hearing?) when something's not quite right and doing something about it. In this instance, if it was obvious that the regs ( one or more) are out of tune, you don't play them ( or the offending one). The overriding matter should be that the music sounds 'correct' to the listener rather than it is played correctly by the piper (as they've no doubt played it hundreds of times in practice). You listen to Paddy Keenan play live - if his regs are playing up, he avoids playing them until he's sorted them out between sets of tunes. If there's one note that's out, he'll avoid playing that note, if he can, he'll use an alternative : i.e. middle reg not happy, use the tenor. Yes, you'll have to think about your wrist positioning but it's not that hard to do.

It's not the end of the world if you don't play your regs along with absolutely every tune is it?

I just looked him up on Google, as I was not familiar with his work as a pipe maker. Did he apprentice when Rogge? Just curious with the pic from Andreas' site on his page. http://www.donnachadwyer.com/index.html

And what about the pic of the chanter split in half? Isn't that from the uilleann piping iPad app? No criticism of Donnacha himself, but his webpage seems a little bit suspect...

Suspect indeed. The first set pictured is by Rogge. The second is by Ray Sloan. The 3rd is from Eskin's iPhone app.

Who made the 4th set? The reg keys are distinctive.
