I lucked out and found Cathal McConnell's
CD 'Long Expectant Comes At Last' at
a local music store for 7.99. I don't
think they realized what it was.
The first cut is a scottish song, 'The
Banks of Strathdon,' a waltz really,
which is just ravishing. John Doyle
plays guitars, Winifred Horan fiddle,
there is a piper, Cathal sings and
adds a track playing whistle.
The song includes a duet between whistle and
voice, then one tween whistle and pipes,
then one tween whistle and fiddle--
heavenly stuff.
Here;s my question: anyone know what
instrument in particular CM is
playing? I'm playing along on a
C whistle, but his sounds lower.
Let me add that there is considerable
educational value in playing along with this
tune, especially playing what CM
plays.
