Please, if you wouldn't mind, play a tune or lift a glass...

Post by Jerry Freeman »

... for me old Mum.

She passed away today.

No "sorry for your loss," etc. please. It was expected, and I'm fine.

But if you wouldn't mind sending a bit of music or a warm thought in her direction, it would be an appropriate salute.

She managed to raise herself out of very difficult circumstances and accomplish a life that was strikingly full of creativity and joy. She was a source of joy for a great many people who knew her, including those who cared for her in the nursing home during her last months.

Thanks,
Jerry

Edited to add, Sorry folks. I see I've posted this on the wrong forum. Oh, well ...

Well, I just played her "Ashokan Farewell" (which seemed doubly fitting since it was topic of a recent thread) on my Jerry-tweaked Sweetone (which BTW is almost black now except for where your clear sticker is - the lettering wore away long ago).

And here's a toast to her.....

Jerry,
I'll raise the "parting glass" (both tune and drink) in her honor.

Best wishes,
John

I'll hope yer mum will meet my mum, and mum they will not be.
But share wild tales of life's wild trails, and tunes heard of you and me,
Their souls take flight both day and night, and gloat with avid glee,
for now they both can wink and tut, and know what vexes we.

My prayers (and several tunes on the low E whistle you gave me) are going out to you.

I hope to upload some mp3/ogg files soon with all my new whistles.

I lost my mother in '91 and I still miss her very much.

I'm playing my Mellow Dog in her memory, Jerry. My father died this very day, many years ago. I'm playing for him, too.

Best wishes to you and your family,
Carol

Tell us something.: I used to be a regular then I took up the bassoon. Bassoons don't have a lot of chiff. Not really, I have always been a drummer, and my C&F years were when I was a little tired of the drums. Now I'm back playing drums. I mist the C&F years, though.
