A forum about Uilleann (Irish) pipes and the surly people who play them.

Uilleann Piper in Titanic (the movie)

Post by L42B »

Hi I was watching the Titanic the other day and I was wondering who was the Uilleann Piper in the movie; and what was his name in reall life. I read somewhere (I believe on this board) that he was rescued and sued the White Stare Line for compensation including the value of the bagpipes. I have also read that they had actually found his set and have preserved it.

Anyone care to enlighten us.

Cheers L42B :D

Eric Rigler did the studio work. The fellow in the dance scene below decks is another guy (name is in archives). The 'pipes' recovered from the wreckage have been shown not to be pipes at all, possibly two clarinets.

The "other guy" is Brian Walsh.

The Celtic band playing with Brian Walsh, who was a member at the time, is Gaelic Storm.
