Irish song for Father/Daughter Dance

Post by LisaRx »

Hey! I know this is a little off topic, but if there is anyone whose brain I can pick for Irish music suggestions, it's the folks on this forum!

I'm getting married on November 6 of this year, and my father and I (as well as my fiance and our families are Irish music aficionados). My fiance plays mandolin in an Irish band, I play a little tin whistle, and my dad plays mandolin, guitar, accordion and a little tin whistle.

My father and I are looking for an irish song to use for our first dance, and any suggestions would be very welcome! And for the love of God, please don't say "Irish Wedding Song" or my head will blow up. We love the Wolfetones, DUbliners etc (you get the picture)

Hi LisaRx

How about "The Trip We took over the Mountain". There is a nice version of the song on Christy O'Leary's Northern Bridge CD.

Maybe a waltz? I like Leon's Waltz (I heard Loretto Reid doing it).
