Information and help with pricing of Hawkes Crown AZ flute
Hi! Is anyone able to give me any info on what seems to be a Hawkes Crown AZ flute please? I recently found it in my late mum's possessions but have no idea of value or of it's history. It is 15" long and there are 3 pieces. On the main part there is a crown and underneath there is AZ and underneath again is Hawkes & Son London. It is also in a leather/pigskin pouch which looks as if it could be attached to a belt. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I thought the link might give you an idea, this is off eBay & more up to date with the quote above from Othannen )http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/380445734256 in case it doesn't open, it went for 171 GB Pounds. I'm looking for a high pitched Bb flute so if your not shoping around for a price war write direct. Depending on ebonite or wood also reflects on the cash and if the latter.... cracks are a minus of course.

Suggest you take and post detailed photos. You'll need them anyway if you decide to eBay it. You can also use web search tools to see what kinds of price these can achieve from past eBay sales - less at present than a few years back, but anything between Neil's low end example above and £450-ish at the peak of the market. Much depends on who is looking at any given time. Whatever, these go for way more than the general run-of-the-mill Bb Band Flutes, which are mostly only worth £40-70-ish. As Neil wrote, condition matters. Having the belt pouch may add collectability.
I respect people's privilege to hold their beliefs, whatever those may be (within reason), but respect the beliefs themselves? You gotta be kidding!
