WTB: BELLOWS&Bag USED! Quinn, Hubbert, Thompson, Woof...

Post by glasba »

Hello to everyone,

I am looking to buy very good quality USED or Older Bellows + Bag with stocks (!Airtight!) :)
I don't care for signs of wear, if they work great. Mybe if you planed to sell great practice set, I would buy B&B and you can sell chanter separetly.

For Bellows it is most important to be Very efficient! David Quinn, Michael Hubbert or D. Williams/G. Galloway (Thompson), A. Setunsky, M. Hillmann...
Metal hinged version Quinn/Woof... also very welcome.

Bag can be 'John Mcsherry style' VINYL if! it is very well made & without any signs of coming cracks...

or LEATHER (Quinn/Thompson/Williams/Kelleher/Boyce/McHarg/O'Briain) if it is still airtight.

If you have any of combination above or other very efficient, please let me know via PM, so we can talk more in detail about photos, price... I am based in Europe.

Thank you, Best Regards, AA :)

Have you looked at these
http://www.kellehertrad.com/

If your not in Ireland you'll save 21% on Irish VAT/sales tax.

They make great stuff indeed.

Also there was someone here selling a Dow bellows.
They're not cheap but they will last you your piping life and someone elses after your gone.

I got one used this year and I should have got one years ago. Rock solid.
I'd love to offer these with my practise sets and half sets but the expense turns customers off but in my almost 30 years playing pipes I've gone through 4 bellows but I'm fairly sure my 5 year old used Dow bellows will last 30 more.

I will second Tommy's recommendation of Kelleher bellows. I recently replaced my aging Thompson bellows with a Kelleher bellows made in ash. The worksmanship is superb and the savings of 21% on the VAT is not to be sneezed at. . .

Hello again,

Thanks for comments.

YES, they make great stuff for sure! I might buy from them at the end, but my original wish was D. QUINN, M. HUBBERT or A. Setunsky... stitched bellows or THOMPSON (Williams or O'Briain shape) bellows.

Anyway "Efficient" is the main point with Bellows. By efficient I don't necessarily mean large capacity, but very well made and with double layer leather to work without any lost of energy, movement, air...

Made by M. Hubbert, Bill Haneman, M. Coulter, Andy Faden, Derrick Gleeson, M. Dunne... also welcome

I used to own that bellows :( for few weeks and they were great, but I was forced to sell them (long $ story...)

But generaly I prefer Bellows where you can see a lot of Wood ! :)
