Help me determine the age of this whistle
Hi there,
A short while ago I came over what looks to be an older Generation tin whistle in the key of F. I bought it for almost nothing from the Swedish version of ebay. Mainly just because I liked its appearance.
I'm wondering if some of you guys could help me determine the approximate age of the whistle? I got a few not-so-good pictures for you too look at. You find the pictures here: https://www.dropbox.com/sc/x5t4xs7342hxq1j/uv5BiL5_QM

I don't know how old that is, but I can tell you that it's fipple is lead and you shouldn't play it very much. You could coat the lead with clear nail polish, polyurethane, or perhaps clear tape to keep it away from your lip. I'd still only play it a little bit. It's a cool memento in any event.

Thank's for pointing that out brewerpaul. I hadn't actually thought about that. Though I've only played a few short melodies on it.
But as I didn't buy it for playing purposes I think I'll leave it the way it is and just remember to avoid putting that piece of led into my mouth

It's pretty typical for a late 19th-early 20th century whistle.

Ah, okay. Older than I first thought then. Thank's for the reply! Do you have any idea of its value? It really does not matter much for me, I'm just want to know what I've bought . And as I live in Sweden I don't know much about the amount of older whistles that are still existing today. Though as you can see on the images it's got a couple of scratches and dents so its finish isn't really top notch.Mr.Gumby wrote:It's pretty typical for a late 19th-early 20th century whistle.

Re: Help me determine the age of this whistle
Here are a few more steps in the chronology, say 1930s to 1970s ones. Yours would be before those three.
Price? €10-20 euro or whatever someone is willing to give.

Unknownwhistler,
The whistle in the pictures you posted has the word "key of F" stamped on the badge.
Just saying..

Haha, yeah that's right Nate. Just a little typo from my side I'll correct it now.
