And, in keeping with earlier posts I'd say that this round is ground.

That's an astute point, Chuck, and I agree.

I just listened to it with the tempo increased by a factor of three, as I often do with very slow tunes. To my ear the first verse (only) then retains a lot of the shape tune, such that I can believe that it is what the player had in mind.

I had trouble listening to the end at normal tempo, and thought that maybe what he had in mind was more like 'Summertime'. That is, something introduced from another genre, a "sounds like" effect, rather than something original.

I think May Morning Dew would have sounded better on a Generation Beef flat.

Tell us something.: I'm a fiddler and, latterly, a fluter. I love the flute. I wish I'd always played it. I love the whistle as well. I'm blessed in having really lovely instruments for all of my musical interests.

Oh, yeah: also a mod here, not a spammer. A matter of opinion, perhaps.

It wasn't offal, but it just wasn't the tune.

No, not beef, more like Tofurky.

I wasn't going to post on this thread since I consider many of those who've commented are old C&F friends and I have zero interest in causing harm to any of those trusted relationships. It also won't surprise me if a Moderator removes this post. I had a couple of very ugly experiences with Talbert which seem to follow a pattern so I feel I should say something.

Yes, Talbert is indeed a very skilled low whistle player. I've personally used his CD as background music for yoga and meditation classes over the years.

He usually pops up with a post of himself playing at just about the same time he wants to sell something. Sadly though, if you search around a little on C&F you'll also note that Talbert, or whatever persona he's using these days, has quite an established history of misrepresenting things, which is why he couldn't post this on C&F himself.

P.S. I apologize Moderators and C&F in advance if I've crossed a line.

It's good that you are aware of the line. I think you've managed to skate up to it and just nick it. Fortunately, this time I think the ice held up.

Since the ice is thin, I'll not venture out along side of Ecohawk. But I have been to the same place as he and share his perspective.

Shame, 'cause I like a pun war that you can sink your teeth into.

I think it's funny and charming that I got the old virtual stink-eye for praising Altan's (IMO) tasteful use of electronic keyboards, but I see a lot of praise for New Age Spillane-esque whistlers and the use of ukulele in ITM here.

Clearly, the lines are vague at best and entirely dependent on who's posting. As indeed it ought to be.
