Good luck with that...sure is a beaut...happy piping

He astonished as well as delighted!

Here is the recording I did back in November 2011 "Green Fields Of Canada" .

I start with a Joe Kennedy reed and then play the Alan Burton reed made for my Rogge Chanters years ago.

Have to do a few more recordings of the narrow bore D Joe Kennedy chanter.

I was given 5 reeds from Joe when I got the Chanter. The reed that was in the chanter is the best reed plus a second reed.

I have a new reed from Alan Burton so may record that reed and the other reeds I got from Joe.

Cheers

My Joe Kennedy Left handed Narrow bore D Chanter with new brass swan neck tubing top part.

This is what Joe quoted on Facebook about this Narrow bore D chanters
Its a combo of Kenna Taylor ...Found the Kenna only hard to reed; This combo is easy to reed and lots of tone.
The boxwood mount and keys look the same as the Seamus Ennis Coyne C# chanter.

I understand why it's a "left-handed" chanter.
Just wanted to point out that I find that that "outboard" (for a right-hander) placement of the F natural ring key is way easier to deal with than the more trad. way-- no key block stuck between your RH fingers.
And so that's what I had DMQ put on my right-handed C chanter.

A soon to be finished 4 regulator beast in plum wood, ebony and brass by Richard Patkos. Originally these were supposed to be just new regulator springs for my old set but things got a bit out of hand.... :D

Tell us something.: I am interested in the uilleann pipes and their typical -and broader- use. I have been composing and arranging for the instrument lately. I enjoy unusual harmonic combinations on the pipes. I use the pipes to play music of other cultures.

Interesting use of the Rowsome "bow-tie" turning on the wind cap. Clever and effective. You have a mature esthetic for one so young

Thank you Tommy... I've always had a thing for the bow-tie look. It exudes a certain, how you say...Je ne Sais Quoi? :)

It is a nice looking chanter, David.. :) I like the bow-tie look too. Congratulations! I hope that no one minds, but I thought to link some more pictures of the Patkos E reg set when it was in earlier stages of its making.

I finally got the set after the additional wait for a new bellows (with a metal hinge) and a bag. What a delight to play!!! Everything was in tune out of the box and the reeds are light and stable with a crisp and strong sound. I'm especially amazed at how good the bellows are - very efficient and need almost no muscle power to drive. The ergonomics of the E reg key are also surprisingly good, I have no trouble playing it alone or with the tenor (or the rest of them) and I can still comfortably play the tenor and baritone without touching the E. Also contrary to my fears the tuning lever on the tenor reg doesn't get in the way at all. Couldn't be much happier. There's a pic of the bellows on Richard's new website ( http://www.uilleannhungary.com/ ) if someone is interested, I think I won't flood this thread any more with pics ;)
